Thaine Carter

Principal & Co-Founder, BlackTusk Group

Thaine is a seasoned real estate professional, with over 15 years of commercial real estate experience. He is a Principal and co-founder of BlackTusk Group, a Toronto-based real estate development and private equity firm. Prior to founding BlackTusk, he was a Vice President in the Real Estate Investment Banking Group at TD Securities, where he focused on property brokerage advisory on behalf of Canada’s largest institutional real estate owners and investors, while also supporting the capital markets and mergers and acquisitions teams. He has underwritten and / or advised on over $15 billion in real estate acquisitions.

Prior to joining TD Securities, Thaine worked at Brookfield Financial where he provided analysis and transaction support on projects throughout North America, South America, and Europe. He commenced his career in the Research Valuation & Advisory division of Altus Group, a leading global real estate service provider, where he appraised commercial properties across all asset classes.

Thaine grew up in Nanaimo, British Columbia, and graduated from Queen’s University (Bachelor of Applied Honours Economics) where he also played football, earning numerous accolades including CIS All-Canadian honours, President’s Trophy (Best Standup Defensive Player in the Country) and induction into the Queen’s Football Hall of Fame. Thaine also played football professionally for two years in the CFL for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
