Mr. Hugh Woolley, CPA-CA, TEP
Hugh Woolley grew up in West Vancouver and graduated from St. George’s High School in 1979 and the University of British Columbia in 1985 with a Commerce degree. After articling at Arthur Andersen, Hugh became a Chartered Accountant in 1988. Hugh worked at the CRA’s Ruling Directorate in Ottawa from 1990 to 1992 writing “butterfly” advance income tax rulings.
Hugh has authored ten papers for the Canadian Tax Foundation’s British Columbia Tax Conference as well as papers for the Canadian Tax Foundation’s National Tax Conference and STEP Canada’s National Conference. Hugh has taught income tax for CPABC (and its predecessor organizations) for 30 years. Hugh’s practice focuses of providing income tax services to other accounting firms and law firms. Hugh specializes in the reorganization of private Canadian companies including the inter-generational transfer of businesses. Also, Hugh has extensive experience in the purchase and sale of Canadian businesses in every sector of the economy but especially the real estate industry. Hugh also assists taxpayers in resolving disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Outside of work Hugh is a life long squash player and has volunteered extensively in the squash community. Hugh is currently the Treasurer of the Downs Syndrome Resource Foundation and former Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.
